Savoy Ballroom (SavoyL100)

Description
The Savoy Ballroom in Harlem was an elegant dance and music venue, owned by Moe Gale and managed by Charles Buchanan. It was one of the first racially integrated public places, with a dance floor for 4,000 people, earning the nickname "Home of Happy Feet." The ballroom featured two bandstands, allowing continuous live music. Chick Webb's band recorded "Stompin' at the Savoy," and the venue hosted famous dance events like the Harvest Moon Ball. The Savoy closed on July 10, 1958, and was demolished in 1959 for Delano Village housing.
